DogDB in Russian, Spanish and Chinese

The site now works in four languages: English, Russian, Spanish and Chinese. The interface, emails and reference catalogues are translated. Legal pages for Spanish and Chinese are still shown in English.

We chose these languages because many breeders speak them. According to FCI statistics, 257,000 puppies were registered in Russia in 2025, 117,000 in China, whose latest report is for 2019, and, on the latest figures, another 117,000 in Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Colombia combined. That's about a quarter of all the puppies the FCI registers in a year.

A dog's name now always comes first in Latin script, with the national spelling second. If a dog has no Latin name, we show the name as it is and don't transliterate it ourselves.
